Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Dave Grohl, Wolf Alice and The Libertines were among the big winners at the 2016 NME Awards, held Wednesday night at the O2 Academy in Brixton, south London.
Swift won for best international solo artist just days after collecting album of the year honors at the Grammy Awards, while Foo Fighter leader Dave Grohl was named NME’s “hero of the year.”
The Maccabees were named best British band and Run The Jewels were tapped as best international band. Charli XCX beat out stiff opposition (including Adele) to earn the best British solo artist nod, while homegrown act Wolf Alice recevied best live band and best track honors for “Giant Peach.”
